Researcher Hwang Sumin focuses on agrivoltaics, the coexistence and sustainable development of local communities, and building the foundation for RE100 and renewable energy expansion. She is particularly interested in developing the data analysis and policy frameworks necessary to ensure that the energy transition becomes a tangible opportunity for both local communities and businesses.
She majored in Economics at Yonsei University and specialized in North Korean Economics at the University of North Korean Studies. During her master’s program, she researched strategies for implementing the SDGs in North Korea and explored inter-Korean economic cooperation in the fields of environment and climate. Through this work, she developed a perspective that integrates institutional structures with economic systems. She continues to lay the groundwork to ensure that renewable energy expansion translates into practical, implementable policies and meaningful collaboration on the ground.
