Climate Crisis, What's the Solution?

Record-breaking weather observations are being broken repeatedly, and resulting disasters and casualties are increasing.

Humanity has caused the climate crisis by using large amounts of fossil energy.

Just as nuclear wastewater from the Fukushima nuclear accident is polluting the world's oceans, nuclear power, which is dangerous and has no good solution for radioactive waste, cannot be an alternative.

Energy transition, which changes the energy system to dramatically reduce greenhouse gases that are the main culprits of the climate crisis, is an essential task for human survival and safety.

What Kind of Transition Do We Need?

We must maximize renewable energy, which has minimal environmental impact and no fuel cost concerns.

This will lower South Korea's foreign dependency, which currently imports more than 95% of its energy, and strengthen energy security.

We are entering an era where products not produced with 100% renewable energy will be difficult to export.

For the future of the Korean economy, which relies heavily on exports, expanding renewable energy and energy transition is the only way forward.

The transition process must also be clean and healthy. It's time to think and discuss how renewable energy systems can coexist with ecosystems and contribute to the development of local communities.

That's Why We...

Energy Transition Forum Korea was founded in 2018 with the purpose of energy conservation, efficiency improvement, and transition to a renewable energy-centered energy system, painfully recognizing the irreversible adverse effects caused by nuclear and fossil fuel-centered energy systems.

Various stakeholders in energy transition, including experts, civic groups, businesses, and individuals, come together to communicate, discuss, and find desirable policy alternatives, performing various roles to promote the transition of energy systems.

Expanding distributed energy sources and energy transition can be a solution to revitalize declining regions and will be a driving force for companies that need to overcome global carbon trade barriers.

Energy Transition Forum Korea will be the center of discussion where anyone from industry, academia, research, civil society, government, and politics can cooperate and consult to minimize conflicts in the energy transition process and derive optimal alternatives.

We will do our best until energy transition becomes a major trend and mainstream discourse in our society.
