Climate is the Economy
Forum: How Can Solar Power Become the Light that Revitalizes Rural Communities and Industry?

Solar power is one of the most representative renewable energy sources that can respond to both the climate crisis and changes in global trade regulations. It is a practical technology that can be utilized in diverse spaces such as urban areas, rural communities, and industrial complexes. In particular, agrivoltaics and installations on industrial complexes and urban buildings are gaining attention as solutions that contribute to energy self-sufficiency and revitalization of local economies.
However, the growth of Korea’s solar industry has stagnated due to excessive siting regulations, complex permitting processes, and grid connection constraints.
Yet, every crisis also presents a new opportunity.
To expand solar deployment, comprehensive efforts are required—such as site-specific strategies, supply chain strengthening, community cooperation, and financial and tax support. These measures can go beyond climate crisis response to generate new growth engines, enhance industrial competitiveness, and invigorate local economies.
This forum will bring together experts from government, industry, academia, and local communities to discuss pathways for sustainable solar industry development and opportunities for collaboration.
We look forward to your interest and active participation.
