Climate Crisis: The Solution

Record-breaking weather events are increasing, bringing more disasters and casualties.
Human dependence on fossil fuels has caused the climate crisis.

Nuclear power also carries long‑term risks, including radioactive waste without
a permanent disposal solution, underscored by the Fukushima incident.

Energy transition-shifting to systems that sharply cut greenhouse gas emissions-
is essential for safety, resilience, and public health.

What Transition Is Needed?

We must maximize renewable energy adoption,

which has minimal environmental impact and eliminates fuel cost concerns.

This reduces South Korea’s energy import dependence (over 95%)

and strengthens energy security.

Global markets increasingly favor products made with

high shares of renewable energy, so export competitiveness will depend on clean power.

The transition must also be clean, inclusive, and community‑centered,

supporting ecosystems and local development.

Why We Exist

Founded in 2018, Energy Transition Forum Korea promotes energy conservation,

efficiency, and renewable energy systems,

addressing the harmful effects of fossil fuel and nuclear dependence.

We convene experts, civil society, business, and citizens to exchange evidence, debate options,

and co‑create policy recommendations that accelerate a fair and effective transition.

Distributed energy and broader transition efforts can revitalize regions

and help firms meet carbon‑related trade requirements.

ETF Korea serves as a neutral platform where industry, academia, government,

and civil society collaborate to minimize conflict and identify practical solutions.

We work to make energy transition a mainstream priority in Korean society.
